Hi, my name is Marie.

I’ve spent many years hiding away, so unbearably scared of humiliation. Now, I think I’ve learned a few life skills to help me cope with my fear. I’m still scared but I’m choosing Courage this time!

I live in County Down in Northern Ireland, along with my better half, four sons, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a snake called Snakey. I’m originally from Dublin. I have 2 sisters and went to an all-girls convent school where we were taught by the Presentation Convent Nuns, I was terrified of boys!

Three of my sons are at university and my youngest son is in special education, he was born with a very rare genetic disorder and he fills our family with so much love and joy. (I’m of the opinion boys are easier than girls lol, my poor Dad!!)

I paint in my converted garage and finally feel like I’m doing what my heart always needed me to do.

Mad Irish Artist was a name given to me by an anonymous social media hacker, who had seen an interview whereby I spoke of my diagnosis of borderline personality disorder.

I hope that my paintings and my story can help someone out there struggling and in need of courage and strength.
